Guest Juror: Danielle Krysa (The Jealous Curator)
Untitled 18 marks the eighteenth year of SooVAC’s flagship juried exhibition series. Untitled provides opportunities for artists working in any medium and at any stage of their career, resulting in a survey of varied perspectives and provocative work.
And a huge thank you to our Untitled 18 Juror, Danielle Krysa (The Jealous Curator), and project intern, Borte Batbold, for their thoughtful work.
Danielle Krysa selected 30 artists out of 276 applications.
Texture. This is the word that comes to mind when I think about the work chosen for Untitled 18. The selected pieces have layers and depth, both in materials and ideas — from found objects to clay, feminism to inclusion. While the work from these 30 artists is wildly diverse, it feels strangely cohesive when shown together. For me, the connecting element is this:
Whether the work is on the floor, suspended from the ceiling, or hanging on the walls, everything in this show makes me want to touch it. I won’t, but I want to. You’ll see what I mean — there’s just so much TEXTURE. -Danielle Krysa (The Jealous Curator)
