Located, featuring work by Nate Burbeck and Aaron Dysart, dissects social undercurrents and the immutable permanence of natural landscapes through both artists’ respective media. Burbeck’s sweeping panoramic landscape paintings leverage a heighten sense of light and shadow in suburban terrains, creating a surreal psychological space hinting at a foreboding darkness under the surface. Dysart’s sculptural practice gives nature’s towering formations a glamorous makeover; imagine a cliff’s rocky outcrop coated in a luminous guitar finish, while simultaneously creating a longing for the real thing.

Nate Burbeck lives and works in Minneapolis, he received a B.A from Saint John’s University in 2009 and attended a residency program at the School of Visual Arts in New York the following year. He recently had a solo exhibition at Anna Zorina Gallery, NYC and was named one of the “Ten Artists to Watch in 2013” on the Walker Art Center/mnartists.org blog and was interviewed by Dirty Laundry Magazine.

Aaron Dysart received his MFA from the University of Minnesota and currently lives and works in Minneapolis. He is currently a City Art Collaboratory Fellow for Public Arts St. Paul and actively exhibits throughout the upper Midwest. Dysart recently received a Minnesota State Arts Board Artist Initiative Grant and a Jerome Fellowship for Franconia Sculpture Park. His work is in the permanent collection of Franconia Sculpture Park, Macalester College and the University of Montana to name a few.
